The trees in my backyard
I whispered secrets, all my secrets to them
The butterflies that were once caterpillars
The lie before the vanity
That was me
That was me breaking from the storm
Encapsulated by the shell of the universe
And outside is my freedom
Outside these walls of thick blood
it doesn’t let me out
I was once a little brown haired girl
With brown skin
And pungent dreams
Wrapped in innocence
I’m not abandoned
I’m not neglected
But shifted around
To the next tabletop
And the next life
It’s all true
It’s all a lie
